I own a 1948 Farmall Cub. I had loud noises in transmission in 1st and reverse gears. I replaced the 1-2nd sliding gear and the 3-4th sliding gear, new front bearings in both shafts, new seals all around. Now the 1st and reverse gears are quiet but the 3rd gear whines and the 4th gear is very loud. I'm considering putting the old 3-4th sliding gear back in. Any other suggestions? |

| I pulled one 3 times trying to get it quite. I suggest you get newest gears that you can find. These are a hard fix because everything is worn |

| The only time a cub trans is quiet is when it is not moving engine off. Straight cut spur gears are noisy. It is your time, but they do make noise. Jim |
