Can it be done ?? not with out a ton of work. Yes the 310 and 282 were in 706's BUT even doing a swap in them is a ton of work . Frame rails need changed fuel lines linkage i do believe the hoods are different . BUT hay anything is possible . Look what i am doing at the moment putting a 8.3 Cummins into a 2150 oliver fwd . Yes we have had to do some Barn Yard engineering and some fab work due to the ft. drive shaft and pan issue but that was easy and all that is left is four motor mounts . everything else was off the shelf bolt ons. And a lot of phone calls and running after stuff. Spent more time doing that then twisten wrenches.
