SM klght style

Did all the SMs have the "flat back" style headlights or did the early ones still use the "tear drop" lights like the Ms. If so, what year / serial # did IH switch to the "flat back" lights? I was under the impression that all SMs had the "flat back" lights but I received a pic today of a SM that had the "tear drops". Pic was taken approx 1954

TIA,

Saw some info that said the change was when stage 2 started and also info that some from around the first of 1953 got the sealed beams.
Guess I don't know for sure, but do know part had the tear drop and the rest sealed beam.
Forgot to say, if you go by the parts book it shows the head light wire harness changed from stage one to stage two SM.

IH used up lights from the old style until th box was empty. Our super H Stage I (March) 53, has pan Cake (I was on it the day it was delivered at 4 years old). and there are for sure SH with tear drop.

Early SM"s did use the teardrop lights. Very last "H"s" from 391358 up used the sealed beam lights, but the rear combination light, with the red insert, was an option. Same for SH"s .

Yup, some did some didn't. Switchover was sometime in 1953. Both of my 1953s that had the original pancake lights on them were built in December so it was sometime before December.

I have my Dad's 53 super H #2468 and it had sealed beams from factory and he threw them away in the 60s and put the old light on it so they would work for more than a week.

Didn't find the one piece of information I mentioned in the other post. But thanks to another fellow that found it and posted I put it here.
