Fast hitch to break tire beads

I had to get a 15.5/38 6 ply tire off a rim and I tried it first with the Massey 35 using the loader but even with the front end off the ground it was not heavy enough to collapse the tire. I put it under the fast hitch drawbar and it pushed it right down so all I had to do was use the sledgehammer a little bit and it popped right off. I always used to have to push it down in at least two places with the loader before it would pop off the rim. The down pressure is not strong enough to lift one tire off the ground as is shown in the manual but I assume that is because the tires are loaded and therefore too heavy.

We only ever used the Fast Hitch on the 560 for two things:

1. Breaking beads on tires.
2. Hitching up to the wood trailer.

Good as any tire machine.

I haven't ever tried the tire trick with our Super C or 230, but we do use the fast hitch down pressure to install steel fence posts. We welded two hooks onto a post pounder and then we hook a chain from it to the drawbar. Works great!

i use my skidloader without the bucket on it. i can sit inside and flip the rim over and break the other bead loose and not have to touch it

Never will forget. The first 560 we sold had a fast hitch as the co. normally loaded all attachments on the first of a new model. Customer did not want a fast hitch, sooooooo, boss shows him how handy it was to raise the rear of tractor to move the wheels. Well, I put a stand under drawbar and lowered the hitch so tractor was off the floor. That tractor jumped up and down like a grasshopper. Customer was not impressed and boss was scratching his head. It turns out , the first ones had only a single action check valve and the newly introduced tele-depth valves were not able to hold pressure as they had to have more clearance to operate than the regular touch control valves. Soon tractors came with double action check valves on hitch cyl and they would hold in both directions.

When they took the down pressure off on the 06 series that was the end of two point era. They were then the same as three point and only IH had them. They were very handy for several things.

I was a great fan of using the fast hitch to break down large tractor tire beads. I recently purchased a 7140 MFWD and I used the steering tire to break the bead on a 38" rim. You can drive right on the old tire, rotate around the old rim and steer left and right to create more action until the old bead pops loose. All this can be done from the tractor seat without any help. I still love the fast hitch and the down pressure feature for other things.
