Cub fuel tank

I have a couple of Cubs. Both have issues with fuel (maybe just vapors) leaving the top of the tank around the fuel cap wet with fuel. I hope to get this solved before I paint them as it surely will wreck the new paint in short order. The wetness appears no matter how full the tank is. Both tractors have the factory fuel cap and most likely both could use a new gasket. I"ve changed those before however and not had much reduction in the wet stuff.

(quoted from post at 11:23:34 02/22/13) You should replace the cap w/ a triple baffle safety cap. Case IH was giving those out for free as a product safety issue.
poke here for free cap

In case anyone else is curious like me, the domain above (www.ihgascap.com) is owned by Navistar, Inc. in Warrenville, IL. The phone number on the site goes to Naperville, IL, which is the same area. Seems legit to me.

Yes, Navistar used to be International Harvester Corporation.

The factory gas cap is a fire hazard. People got burned, IH got sued. Part of the settlement is that they have to replace all the dangerous gas caps for free, apparently forever.

When IH sold the farm equipment to Tenneco in 1985, they changed their name to Navistar. Navistar got stuck with the responsibility of maintaining the gas cap program.
