I figured out the lighting wiring on my late model 140 with factory alternator. The factory alternators started at serial number 62472. My tractor has turn signals, flashers, headlights and a combo work/tail light. The work/tail light is the one with a red light inside the work light housing. The red tail light and the work light have separate wires to the panel. The lights were working, but the flashers and one of the turn signals did not. I found that one of the 6 spade terminals on the 4 position light switch was broken off. After a lot of checking with a volt/ohmeter, I figured out the wiring and got the flashers and signals to work. There was one loose connection and the turn signal switch needed a second 12V power connection for the flashers to work. That power was supposed to come from the 4 position light switch and that was the broken off terminal. So I ordered a new switch. Apparently the switches have been revised and the new switch had the flasher terminals closed in switch position 2, 3 and 4 where as the old switch had the closed only in position 2 and 3. On the switch, position 1 is off, 2 is flashers, 3 is head lights, flashers and tail light, position 4 is head lights and work light. With the new switch having the flasher terminals closed in position 4 that meant that there was no way to turn on the work light and head lights without the flashers also coming on. So....I ended up not using the flasher connections on the new switch and adding a separate toggle switch on the panel to control the flashers separate from the other lights. Turns out I could have done without the new light switch. I wonder why the new light switch was different. I'm guessing that the turn signal and flasher switch has been revised to match the new light switch. If anyone needs help on how to wire these up, I'm an expert now and could supply a diagram of the connections.
