My left brake is getting oil on it and I need to replace the seal. How hard of job is this? Can I just drill a hole and use a screw to pull it out or how can I get It out and new one In?

Perfect solution, go for it that way. Try to position the new seal so it rides in a different location. Two new seals can be used, they are thinner. If used, pack chassis grease between them to lube the outer seal. Jim

If it is the original they can be a bugger. They are pretty thick - at least twice the newer ones. I never had luck doing the screw thing, but just keep at it and you will get it.

It is a shame you only have one to do. The second one goes so much faster and makes you feel much more competent.

Seal is located in the bull pinion bearing retainer on disc brake tractors. That plate is also what the inside brake disc contacts. Remove brake linkage adjusting bolt, return springs, 5 brake housing bolts, housing and brake discs from the shaft. On the plate the inside disc contacted look for a parting line on the od. Close look with dirt or paint removal should find you some notches to pry the plate out. Doesn't come easy most times and needs to stay pretty even comming out. If you don't have a suitable slide hammer the simplest way for me to remove the plate is to weld up a slide rod with something heavy to slide on a 5/8 fine thread bolt. Screw the bolt in the threaded hole in the end of bull pinion shaft. Hammer the plate out. Slide the bull pinion back in or inspect it and the bearing before installing. Knock the seal out of the plate, put a new one in and replace the oring on the plate if needed.

D Slater has the procedure I use. I'll add that I use 3 flat chisels evenly spaced around the plate. Gently/slowly tap in each a little at a time and it will come out pretty easy. Go slow, a little at a time, so you don't bind it up. If you get impatient you'll break it.
