Farmall m rear end problems

I noticed the other day that the bottom of my rear end case on the right hand side has 3 hairline cracks next to each other. They area about 1 inch apart from each other.
So I drained the rear end oil and found metal shavings, small chunks of metal, and 4 broken off corners of a gear (about 3/4" long). Not good.
I jacked up the rear end and spun the right tire and it doesnt spin like it should. I can see the top brake shaft, the one that is attached to the spring on drum breaks, jiggle when i jiggle the tire back and forth. I spun the left rear tire and it spins alot better than the right.
What do you think is wrong inner and outer axle bearings? Whats the easiest way to change these bearings? How much mite this cost me?

It sounds like a ball or some other piece of metal has gotten between your bull gear and the case to cause the cracks, possibly. You will have to remove the top cover to get a good look at the whole situation, or you could remove the axles by working through the PTO hole. I would recommend removing the top cover, it is not that awful of a job.
