Cub rear engine seal

I am currently rebuilding a engine for a Cub. When i removed to old rear main seal it took very little effort. The new seal slips right in the holder and doesn't get tight. I measured the seal and it is the correct o.d. Is this the way the seal is supposed to be on this engine or is the holder bad? Thanks Matt

For some reason all new seals are not a good fit. If you use that seal, it will leak. Go to farmall cub.com and post there. Someone will have an answer for you. I know there is someone on there that is machining the seal retainers to accept a seal that fits and will seal.

This is common on all cubs. I have rebuilt many. Use permatex ultra black around the outsibe of the seal. This will keep it tight in the seal retainer.
