Paul Shuler 02-04-2013 11:40:07 69.71.1.1 Report to Moderator	I am in the process of replacing the inner and outer axel seals in a 1950 Farmall C. The inner seal {one closest to the bull gear side} has the bearing between me and the seal I need to get to. Tell me the best way to remove this bearing so I dont do something stupid.....again. As everyone has said, the bearing should tap off . . . yours must be up against a burr on the shaft. A gear puller may help ease it off, but I'd really try to find whatever imperfection along the splined end is causing the hang up before I apply too much lateral force on that bearing. You'll need a smooth slip for reinstalling the entire axle, so best to touch up the splines first. Good luck. [Reply]  [No Email]

If it is made the way I think it is the inner bearing should drive out with the shaft so you will be able to get to the seal. [Reply]  [No Email]

Pick it up a bit and drop it on the splined end and the shaft with outer bearing will slide out. Inside the housing will be full of grease from bearing being greased for many years. Once the shaft is out you can go down through the housing and drive out the other bearing and then the seal. good luck Dennis [Reply]  [No Email]

Now that you have all of the retainers off you should be able to pick it up by the 'ears' of the housing and bump the end of the axle on a concrete floor and it will pop right out.
