My farmall 100 starter gear sometimes locks on fly wheel gear.What is causing this and how do I fix it?

One of 2 problems. Bendex gear is a bad or the flywheel ring gear. Some times you can take a file and remove the burrs on the ring gear to help that

Next time it locks remove the starter and look at the ring gear and you will see the problem.

There is a new and different starter drive that can help dramatically. if the teeth are 50% or better of the original depth (length not height)it will be way worth trying. Jim
