Super H front cover and plate

Thinking about resealing the front cover and plate. Was wondering to get the plate of the block the timing gear has to be removed but how about the crankshaft gear?

Crank gear stays on. If I was pulling cover I would remove camshaft unless you have a good tool for pulling gear back onto cam without putting any pressure toward rear.

The cam gear came loose on the M about 15 years ago.

When we went to put it back together, the gear slid on easily with finger pressure. If it went on as hard as you are saying, it never should have come loose.

Well, they sure should not go on with light finger pressure.

I used the retaining bolt to pull my gear back on with.

H has a nut on it and you cannot get gear on far enough to use nut if gear is fitting prperly.
