Help me ID this Farmall M??

Guy sent me this picture and wants to sell his fathers tractor. He said his dad owned it for 10-12 years and the son never saw it run......if that means anything. He wants $900 for it. Might be flexible on price, but I really don't think so.

Is this a Farmall M with wide front as the son says? or is it a Super M, stage 2, etc.?? Any options other than the wide front? Sorry for the crazy questions, but I'm a 1 row small Farmall guy. Never have really looked at anything bigger than a C (except for passing at shows). THANKS!

Its not a Super M, definetly not a stage II Super M. Doesn't look like anything special besides the widefront. The hood does have the hole for the small fuel tank but the tank is missing.

Just a run of the mill plain old M. It looks like
sheet metal brake housings. He might get 900 but
not from me.

its rusty and red and wide front and if it had fenders i would do 1000.00 on it if it was close to me.thats my kind of machine.

But from what I've seen you can buy good running M's (no wide) for around $1,500. I'm sure the engine is stuck and you'd never get it running for that money. Especially since the other tractors have decent paint.

What do you guys think? Would parting it out be in the question?? what would be a good price to buy it at?

What will it bring, I don't know. What is it worth-$4-$500. Maybe a little more because of the wide front, provided it isn't beat up.

alright then, i will not go over 400.00 for that farmall m, it does have poor paint! ooh just give it to me then if you cant come up with a price???

The tires on the right side look iffy. If the left side tires are the
same you could be looking at a fortune in tires and rims. The
value of that tractor will depend greatly on the condition of that
wide front end. If the front end is in real good shape it could
be worth $500 alone. People seem to like those wide fronts.
You couldn't hardly give me an M with a wide front but that is
just me. You might be okay at $900 but I would do my
homework and tread lightly.

around here thats a 4 to 5 hundred dollar beast. tires is what is gonna kill that tractor from being restored. its just a plain M with no goodies on it. and as pointed out earlier, that is NOT the desired wide front end.

i just bought an early cast tube widefront for an M for 150 bux. and to me whats left on that tractor would be worth about 350

RTR, Just a regular, run of the mill neglected M, Originally an Distillate Model from the hole in top of hood. Nothing special! Sheet metal is straight just surface rust
Current owner has Never seen it run, Unless he can put a Battery on it, pour in some gas and it Starts Now...It is a Non-Runner, Scrap wt price!, Most Ms weigh ave 5000 K!
5000 x market price / lb or ton = on average $500.
the less desirable wide front $100 if no welds or major repairs so a place to work off of IMO is $600. From pic tires are shot no value will cost you to get rid of.
$900 is way too high,
Put $400 in 100 dollar bills in you front shirt pocket, offer that. If he balks get $100 from out of your Left front jean pocket and add to the $400 if he balks, a $100 more from your other front jean pocket. Lastly $100 bill in your hip pocket for a last offer if he doesn't take that walk away!
Remind him he will only get scrap wt price @ the salvage yard and he has to haul it to get best money in his pocket.
Hope this helps!
Later,
John A.

"Ditto" to what all has been said below.it is not worth any more than what it weighs at the scrap yard.

It will take A LOT more money than what you initially pay for it to make this one a usable piece of equipment.

This one wasn't stuck after 15-20 years(previous owner suffered alzheimers). We rescued her, cleaned her up and painted. This was an $850 tractor. I added the wide front I desired, similar to the one you show.

This tractor is very healthy! You just won't know until you check it out. Tires are a big ticket item.

You can buy a pretty painted tractor that has a weak motor or bad trans too. Get the tractor as cheap as possible, but scrap $ is not always the answer. I desire that style of wide front. Mine is a Speeco.

I think I'm gonna pass it on to someone else because I really don't have the time to take on another MAJOR project with all of the other tractors I've got. He also has 2 Minneapolis Molines (1 is somewhat rare). He's asking the same price for them also. Someone in his family is a scrap guy so he isn't worried about hauling them cause he'll pick them up. He already told me that he didn't want to scrap them, but would do that if they weren't sold.

I'll post them in the classifides section, but his contact info is Bob Plaster 334-868-9446 (home) and 334-285-6836 (cell). Located in Autaugaville, AL

Thanks guys for the insight and help.
