Working on a wd-9 the switch over lever is pulled back(towards seat) that is the only way it will fire on gas..when it it pushed all the way forwar It turns over real hard...It runs very rich on gas..any ideas thanks in advance..

thats the way it is supposed to be to start on gas. easy to figure also if its turning hard your on diesel compression.

That is the way the later D9's worked, earlier models had both the switch over lever and throttle, push forward on diesel.

When I reread your post I realized you were talking on gas, so my above remarks are opposite.
Early models down on gas and up for diesel. Later models up on gas and down on diesel. The WD 6 series for all production were down for gas and up for diesel.

'Runs rich on gas" Maybe the diesel pump is still pumping on gas. Try closing the diesel throttle while you are on gas.

We had two WD9's The one was 1953, not sure about the other one. But the switch over lever was different on each one. the 1953 was forward/up for gas and the throttle forward. The other one was down for gas, and still forward for the throttle. The MD was the same as the 53 WD9. But had to be adjusted once to stay locked for gas.
