there is a small gasoline tank mounted on the right side of the guage bracket approx one gallon and there is an additional hole in the hood for it as well.. What is it for? did this tractor burn disolate?

the pistons have a oil ring below the pivet knuckel. does that identify anything?

Small tank was for gas then you switched over to fuel in the big tank when warmed up.
