460 fast hitch question

On my 460 fast hitch,on the rock shaft ends there is a place to connect the drag links to make the drawbar rigid and bypassing the hydralic cylinder. Is this to take the strain of pulling a drawbar implement?
I have yet to order an operators manual for this tractor.
I want to pull it in our club pulls, but the drawbar must be non adjustable.
 
Couple of good reasons to use that feature. One is for a mounted corn picker, other is pto equipment so you won't accidentily raise hitch and snap shafts etc.
 
According to my 350 hitch manual, you are right about PTO usage. This automatically places the drawbar at the standard height relative to the power shaft. That said I never do this because it is so handy to raise and lower the hitch when hooking up instead of cranking a jack! Like you said, though, a person has to be careful running this way so they don"t fold the driveline in half.
 
There is no pulling strain on the lift links when the drawbar is in the vertical rigid position. The pull is on the wish-bone like it always was. If necessary, you can also lock it from laterally floating by changing the pin position on the L.H. lift link. Lastly, you may want to lock the anti- sway linkage on the R.H. side.
 
Tracy,I use those for pto equipment.I also use that feature when doing 'drawbar' work.I have found that most folks dont know those mounts exist,and have no idea what they were even for!
