IHC implement identifying help needed

Guys,

Need your help. My 12 year old son has a 1949 Farmall H with a bracket on the front of the steering post at the bolt on point above the tires. There is also a cradle below the belly. It looks to be a lister or plow attachment point. I guessed it to be an HM-150 plow but I only have the brackets. Just curious and is there the rest of it sitting out there. This is part of a 4h project in GA. Any help appreciated.

Sorry about that. The picture did not load so it was my fault and I will try now. I have bothched this one too.

This sounds like the brackets for a mounted (or maybe it's semimounted disk plow) There is a bracket bolted to the front wheel bolster that extendes to the left side and is for a steering rod that goes to the back of the plow to steer the rear wheel of the plow. The "cradle" under the belly has a heavy bar that the plow attaches to with a clevis. This bar takes the draft (or pulling force) of the plow. There are also brackets that attach to the rear axle but these are just for lifting the plow with the hydraulic system and are not usually left on the tractor when the plow is removed. I'm not sure of the plow model number but it fit both the H and M and could be either two or three disks.

Haas,

That is that I thought too. If I can ever get the pictures to load, it will help. But your description seems close. The HM 150 disc plow is the one you described pretty well. I have only seen it in books. If we can't use it, maybe someone else can.

Fairly common to see those brackets on h or m tractors, but the plows are not seen much. I've seen one or two at shows, but no one wants to fool with them because they are so heavy and awkward. Takes a half day to put the thing on the tractor. I spent many hours in my youth plowing with one of these. They do an excellent job.

I found this photo of the HM 150 plow in the archives on this site.
