| This is what the 6 series PS actuator looks like except it is on a 660. The 9 series is similar but carries a different part number. You can remove the original IH steering box and replace it with with a four port Eaton "hand pump". I suggest you set it up with a transverse steering cylinder as shown below

| Someone cobbed that system together using parts off other tractors.
The W6 power steering uses an assist cylinder hooked to the drag link. All the mechanical systems are still in place. There is no hand pump.
Odds are rustred is right and the hand pump is off a Case 930. |

| i have a manual around somewhere for the char lynn system for the w series tractors. the assist cylinder is mounted to a steering arm, does not use the torque generator motor like the row crop tractors. i'll dig around tonight for the manual. i do have the other style manual stored on my computer if you want a copy of that. shoot me an email and i will send you the manuals. |

| I was reading through the discussion and was a little more curious about the set up of the power steering for the W9. I have a Super W6TA and recently purchased the assist rod for the power steering, but it seems to be a little long for the W6. Wondered if there was different lengths for this or if the mounting was just farther back on the W6. Any information would be helpful. There isn't many of these wheatlands with power steering around here. you had mentioned something about the manual and wondered if there was any pictures in there of the mounting. I'm pretty sure you have sent me the one for the orbital motor and that was extremely helpful. Thanks |

| | here is a picture of my w-9 with char-lynn ps. you can see the pump and hoses on the side of the engine. the assist cylinder attaches to the long steering rod coming from the steering post along the tub.

thats the best pic i have right now of the steering set up on that tractor. |
