bent push rods on D-282

I was breaking in my D282 on the dyno, i had it running for about 30 minutes, then i heard something start to tick or knock a bit, i shut it off and pulled off the valve cover and found two bent push rods on #3 and 6 cylinders. what are some causes to my bent pushrods, any help would be appriciated
 
Bent push rods can be caused by only a few things. The first is that the valve stuck in the guide due to a lack of lube, or valve fitted to tight to the guide. Did you check the rocker arms to see if everything was getting lube when you first started the engine? If you had lube oil at the top of the engine dripping on the valves a little of that oil has to get in and lubricate the guides. With the engine cooled down are the valves with bent push rods free to move in the guides? You should be able to push them down by hand and the spring should return. Compare to other valves to see what I'm talking about. Let me know what you find. charlie
 
Stuck valve stems in guides is one cause, They can come loose when the stems cool.
Hitting the pistons is another (if adjusted correctly and timed correctly, that is not it.
Material getting between the valve and piston is a third. What stem lubricant was used, and what were the clearances? Jim
 
BIL and his dad had a 560D they got from a really good used dealer. Had a fresh rebuild on the engine by a local trade school. Started to use it and it lost power. They called my dad and he went over and took a look. Several bent push rods and all kinds of shiny metal on top of the head. The dealer brought out a loner and hauled the tractor back. The oil galley was plugged that fed the valve train. Check the valve clearances and oil supply!

More than one of those engines have been assembled with rocker arm supports wrong and therefore no oil flow to the rocker arm shafts. Also, if the valve recession in head was incorrect the piston and valves can and do touch.
