restoration of w4

what do you use to remove the dirt, rust and old paint that remains after the grease has been washed off? I talking big pieces,( the small ones get sand blasted in a small cabinet)

My hot water pressure washer can take some paint off. There is pretty much nothing that can't be taken care of the with wire wheel after that.

we restore tractors for a living ..we sandblast the whole tractor down to bare cast/metal.. gets every last bit of paint, rust, grime off the whole tractor

Sandblast an entire tractor!?! That isn't the YT mag approved surface prep method!!! You can't even sandblast empty castings because "the sand will hide in the pores of the cast" and come out and ruin your bearings. That said...I am going to blast my 9 in one big piece.

Use a steam jenny or a hot water pressure washer.
This farmer in Ohio uses a hot pressure washer then sandblast's the tractor to bare metal. He doesn't use it on the sheetmetal as it will warp the metal. Hal

I've wire wheeled 5 tractors, sandblasted many of the parts, wire wheeled the rest including the chassis -- SA, C, SH, SM, 460 Hi Utility -- it takes a while, I suppose I have wasted a lot of time, but time is all I have. I would never even consider sandblasting an intact tractor.
