Have you seen this?-

I didn't realize that Farmall was making a six-cylinder diesel in the 1930's and if the advertisement was correct it "that was crankable by hand".

Fastest F-12 I ever saw. I cultivated corn with one for a neighbor about 1959, and I really wasn't impressed. It ran good but the cultivators were pretty clumsy compared to our John Deere H, and high gear was so slow I had to drive a post in the ground to see if I was moving. Had to be a whole bunch better than horses, but since I never used horses I can't compare.

It was a gas start 4 cylinder that automatically switched fuels after starting. The other 40 series tractors, the WA and WK were 6 cylinder.

There were several... 7 I think...different transmission speed combinations for the F12. the rubber equipped ones had faster gearsets. They are identified with a letter code stamped into the back of the rear casting above and left of the pto.

(quoted from post at 09:32:49 01/08/13) By chance do you have those codes?
Guess there were 6
