Changed fluid and it was aerating so I took off and replaced filter canister . Put hay out last night and parked it. Noticed tiny leak under canister this morning so I took canister off and back on and stopped leak . Started tractor and NOOO..... hydraulics . Nada. Not even power steering which had previously given no trouble . In a bind..has my pump gone bad overnight..lost prime..any help appreciated.

Hi Warren, is there plenty of oil in transmission?
I am assuming since you changed filter and fluid that the hydraulic pump has lost prime. The other possibility is the pressure plate splines have stripped and PTO shaft is no longer turning to drive hydraulic pump.
If you have an air compressor with a nozzle tip, you can try removing the hydraulic dip stick and applying some air pressure in the dipstick hole while running engine about 1500 RPM and working steering wheel or hydraulic loader valves. If that doesn't work, place a clean bucket under MCV valve where hydraulic filter is located. On bottom left of MCV should be the high pressure hydraulic line to the steering system, loosen the nut on the line a couple turns with engine running and that should let air out of the system and hydraulic pump to prime.

where the filter canister fits up there's a o-ring behind it my bet is you pinched it and now have a air leak take it off make sure the o-ring is in the grove and is not cut replace canister see if that don't work up under the finder where the filter is located it real easy to cut the o-ring also don't let canister turn as you are tightening it up as that well also case you problems as sometime the o-ring well move out of the grove

Thanks for the advice . I am gonna give it a try. I still have a slight drip from filter canister so gonna pull that again and pull gasket from groove and see if anything keeping it from sealing. I will try what you suggested soon and see what happens . I really appreciate the advice. Luckily I have a cranky old 424 gasser with rear hay forks which is keeping cows from going hungry.

Thanks -I have a new gasket and have toof filter off and on 3 times trying to get a seal. Gonn apull again and check to see if maybe something in groove keeping it from sealing . Appreciate any and all input.
