Thanks for the responses so far, never understood the fenders, I guess if they were farther out it would help, as I said two of my uncles had Farmalls on their farm,I really grew up on the tractors. My one uncles oldest son had got his pant leg caught in the PTO (shield wasn't on), broke his one leg, peeled the skin of his whole calf off his other leg, was in traction for 5 or 6 weeks, happened over 40yrs. ago, but since I right there when it happened, I remember it like just happened yesterday, that's why it scares me when I see tractors on here without the PTO cover installed, only takes 1/2 a sec. for something bad to happen ! I guess that's why I never thought of the fenders making the tractor any safer. The PO late uncle who owned it, related that the owner before him was killed after getting knocked off the seat by a tree limb while mowing with a bush hog !Fenders didn't help. Just my 2 cents worth ! AL
