I found a super Mta the bell housing is cracked and the ta slips can you repair or change the bell housing? i found a louisville Super m restored for the same amout of money i always wanted a super mta but scary with the bell housing whats you guys advise thanks and happy holidays

T/A repair requires clutch housing removal anyway. If you don't care about the date code there is plenty of salvage 400 and 450 housings that will fit right in.
Didn't add that some places can repair a crack pretty good. May depend on the place cracked.

Both are good tractors. The SMTA is a little handier because of the TA and LPTO.SMTAs are more collectable, but "who cares".I've had this SM for over 30 years, used it for ALL(plowing, seedbed prep.,cultivating, planting, lots of pto work...) farm jobs.Never needed TA or LPTO.No problems at all....

Unless you ABSOLUTELY want an M TA ,Want to put a lot of labor hours and quite a bit of money in on a TA over haul.Just go with the Super M

T As are nice, but you dont absolutely have to have one.(I get "beat up" on here all the time about this subject. lol)

Any photos of the M TA and the crack in the housing?? (Maybe it isnt to bad??/ IDK??)

Why are they worth so much!?! There were more made than 1949 ms. Why aren't '49 Ms super collectable!?!?!

Whatever you do, DON'T part out that MTA!!!!

Someone will want to do the work to get it back into fighting shape. Play your cards right and you should be able to flip that tractor and make a few $$$.

A couple of old tires to get it rolling under it's own power, and you've doubled the value of the tractor.

Unless my thinking is off, wasn't there over 30,000 49 M tractors made? Think 51 was the tops. What several tractor buyers are willing to pay for a tractor over more than a short period of time gives a certain model a general value.
Merry Xmas

I have no idea. But Mike usually brings up that there were less of ____ made so why aren't they worth more than SMTAs.
