Looked at a IH 574 today with a loader, ran and operated good, brakes a little shakey, hood is beat, loader in good shape.Whats an average price for this unit and loader? The hydro thing worries me a little but seems to work fine and I'll only be using it as a loader tractor.Think I can get it in the $1500 to $2000 range.Opinions?

I have never seen a hydro in a 74 series, are you sure it isn't a Hydro 84? They are similar in size but the hydro 84 is a little more in the HP. The 574 is about as good a tractor as you will find in that size, much better than the joke machines that Deere built in Germany at that time or any time really.

Could be a 84 as I didn't see a tag,it does have a shift handle where it goes forward to reverse without changing gears.I'm not familar with these tractors at all.Its a diesel and the fellow called and said he'll take $1500 so I'll probably pick it up tomorrow as I need another loader tractor at another farm to keep from hauling one of the ones I have here back and forth.

All the 574's have the same transmission, high & low range plus reverse. 4 gears in each one. Not a hydro. Can you drive it? Try it out? 1500 is a good price.

They are a decent tractor. We have the one we bought new in 1972 and still use it. It has been used and abused and still going. Is on the second set of sleeves from original. They will need a lower radiator hose heater for winter starting. There is no place to put a block heater in if you want to use the block drain and find another place to hook in a hose you could put in a tank type heater. The lower hose works fine. We have used ours in -20 with it just fine. Change the fuel filters every fall will pretty well prevent freeze ups there if a diesel.

Fabulous price. I'd find a way to get that money somehow if it were near Va/NC myself. Good luck with your choice. Great buy there.

Well I went and drove it and it needs alot has a Model 1850 loader and all of the unit is well worn plus the power steering doesn't work very well.Smokes blue smoke right much.Good points the 3pt works fine and so does the PTO has 540 and 1000 RPM PTO.Maybe they all do?It is a diesel but started pretty easily.Offered him $1000 he's thinking about it.

If you get it for $1000 you have that in parts & loader anyways....

1850 loader is full hydraulic, last variant of the 1501/1550 type loaders, twin hyd cylinders on the bucket. Was replaced by the 2200.

Might possibly have been an everywhere but the US deal. I had never seen one or seen the option for one in the parts catalog here before.

First time I saw a 574 Hydro I did a double take...I didn't think they made them either!

Tractor in question wasn't advertised as a hydro, just as a 574, didn't realize the hydro bit until I saw the controls!
