Installing SM Pressure Plate Question?

When I disassembled the clutch assy there were flat washers cut on one side that were installed between flywheel and pressure plate. I have the new clutch reinstalled but was looking over the parts diagram and these washers do not show? Are these suppose to be installed? Thank you.

Ive never ran on to one like that but if the flywheel was ground down too much the pressure plate would not realese the clutch disc and maybe they shimmed the plate out because of thet.

Gene is correct. if the step between the clutch plate mounting surface, and the friction surface depth is out of spec, the washers were put inplace to make it work. Not good. Get the step right, and toss the washers. Jim

Do you know what the correct measurement is from pressure plate surface to disk surface? I just had this flywheel resurfaced and the machine shop resurfaced both levels by the same amount.

If the flywheel was cut and not the step, putting washers under the pressure plate would make it worse. Suspect you have a case of the clutch wouldn't release right and someone stuck the washers in hoping to help. Step height 1.406 inches.

I checked my book and the spec I have for the flywheel is 1.406 from the friction surface to the pressure plate mounting surface. Charlie

pulled clutch apart removed washers and measured difference between surfaces at 35.5 mm with depth gauge. Calculator says that is pretty darn close to 1.406. assembly in progress. Haven't driven this tractor in near 8 years! Mechanically going through all. next to come apart are the axles/ Thanks for the help.
