I removed pto idler shaft to replace o-ring and the needle bearings in the idler gear went everywhere because the race ends had worn off. I now have the remnants of the race in the gear and have been unable to remove it. I am considering removing the top of the lift housing to get to the gear . How bad /involved is the job and is there anything in particular I need to be aware of when I pull it up/off ? |

| Well you have to pull the fuel tank and seat. after that it is not to bad. You will want a lift of some kind to lift the lid. There are 2or 3 teflon rings under the cover on the rear casting to seal hydraulic flows. Have to be careful not to get them out of place. If you lift with a chain fall or such shouldn't be a big problem. Just some patience. Lots of lines to deal with. |
