clank/clunk in 2nd and reverse in my IH 560

YIKES! I went to dump a load fm by bucket in 2nd gear, and when I went to pull it out of gear it was 'stuck'! I wiggled, and eventually 'yanked' it out - and then intially when I shifted the lever into reverse, it was like it was then stuck in one gear forward, and one reverse at the same time.

After giggling and bumping the clutch it 'released' and now shifts fine, BUT there's a loud clanking/clunking in only 2nd and reverse.

Did I break a gear??? OR, am I lucky with only a throw out bearing or fork to replace (it does need a clutch).

Thanks for any advice!

Illustration # 30 or 37 in the caseih.com on line parts diagram is missing a tooth. One tooth is bad enough, many teeth or a shelled set of gears is very bad. Jim

Thanks Jim!

I found the Case IH parts on line site - but how do I locate illustration "30 or 37"?

Can I pull these gears out of the top (lifting the seat plate off)???

Thanks again for your expertise!

In the box put Farmall
Then scroll down to 560
Then Rear Frame and driving Mechanisms
Then illustration 144 Rear Frame and driving Mechanisms Transmission Ball Bearing 5.....

It is part 38 instead of part 37 (my mistake.)
You will need to see what is wrong before determining what needs to come apart. The reverse idler might come out independently, but the most likely problem is with part 38
second gear drive.
