706d hydralic hook up to 3pt hitch back hoe

having problems connecting back hoe to 706D Farmall, have to constantly change aux. lever position for pressure, what am I doing wrong?
all advise appreciated, using the couplings on the left front of steering.

Can you please be more specific about what happens? What do you do, then what does the tractor do?

Does the lever pop back to neutral on its own? That is normal. You need to tie the lever back with a bungee cord or baler twine.

Are the couplers good? Bad couplers, or poorly seated couplers, can seal up and not let fluid flow.

It's much easier to tie it up in the rear position, because down and forward you have to deal with the float position.

If you're tying it down and forward, odds are good the lever keeps slipping into float on you.

Switch the hoses around on the couplers if the backhoe runs backwards on you with the lever tied back.

I agree with MKirsh---I think it is probably dropping into the float position--- but then again, there is more easily accessible things to tie it off to in the down position. I remember when using the Shaver fencepost driver years ago on a 706 in a one-man set-up, I cut a small block of wood that wedged between the lever and the platform and held the lever in the up position.
