International Harvestor / case Plant Tour.

Took the tour yesterday very neat to see the work that goes into putting all these tractors together start to finish, lots of walking very good tour guide, they still use and IH 1066 tractor to test pull the new ones, I guess because they can stand up to anything, took the IH & jd combine tours years ago how hard to believe how automation has taken over this industry.

Kevin B,
Factory tour would be very interesting. I suppose they did not let you take photos to post. Would be neat to see.

Got to tour the plant where my husband works a number of years ago - they add big equipment to trucks. It was really interesting.

Wife works at the Volvo factory, building Class 8 trucks. They manufacture the cabs and do all the painting and assembly in one place. She works on cab line. Really interesting to see the bare cab start out on one end of the plant and a bare frame on the other and watch them come together at exactly the right time. Once they set the cab on the frame, it's not very long till they drive it out the door. They build 125 trucks a day.

Toured the IH plant back when the 88 series was being introduced. It was a dealer trip. Was very interesting. If I remember they stuck the whole transmission case under water in a glass case and looked for air leaks. And they electrically heated big gears instantly red hot and next submerged the gear in oil.

I had a chance to go through the Case IH combine plant in Grand Island NE just over a year ago. Found it very interesting and would reccomend it to anyone who ever got the oppertunity dont turn it down. We had a special perk as the day we were there the combine we ordered was at the end of the line that morning and dad got to drive it out the door. To sa the least a great tour and the guide (a retired plant engineer) did a great job.
