how to shine plow mold boards

best way i kow of is put it to work. they will get so shiney you will see yourself in them. but you need to always stop at each end of field and give them a rap with hammer as the dirt sticks to the rust till they get shiney.

You could do as suggested, but that could take quite a while (depending on your soil type). If you have access to a sand bank or shale bed, you could try pretending to plow the shale or sand. This will clean the moldboards quite well. Another way is to take an angle grinder with a coarse polishing wheel to the rust. After the rust is gone the plow should work quite well. After use, always oil the moldboards or paint them to keep the rust away until next season. In the northeast, moldboard plowing is the way farming is done.

A 4" grinder with a flapper disc about 80 grit works real well to get you close, then using it will finish it up nicely. As was already mentioned after they are cleaned, keep them that way with paint or grease.

I got mine sandblasted, then painted with plow paint to keep it from rusting over the winter. The sand blast finish polished right up while using it, then painted it again.

I plow mine, then paint them with rustoleum red primer, and store them out of the weather. Next time they shine right up in a few furrows.

Simple go out the do what they where made to do and plow up some ground and when done it will be nice and will shine

When you get them ready to plow do not plow deep as they just mite not scour at all the deeper you go the more they will not want to scour start shallow then little at a time going deeper.

At 11, the one time only that I forgot to grease the boards when done in the spring, and gramps trusted me to do it, as I had been trained. Come time to fall plow, and yours truly got handed the 7" Sioux grinder to scour them off
