MD Diesel Startup

SO I have my Farmall MD back to life and running well on Gas. I have not yet done anything with the Diesel side. I have an injector pump that supposedly came off an MD or 400 but the tag on the pump indicates that it was from a WD9. I know that the pump is the same other than ajustments but I have two questions.

Any advice on starting the diesel side for the first time. Tips on bleeding the system?

My second question is if the injector pump is really not adusted for a MD will this cause any issue other than not running correctly?

Looking at the governor specs for the MD and WD9, it appears the only difference you can expect is a slightly increased high idle RPM. (The WD9 high idle RPM is 1,630; the MD is 1580.) Not sure whether the are differences in the timing advance between the two. If there are, you probably won't notice the difference.

However the MD with the WD9 pump will likely smoke more when the throttle is suddenly opened, also at full load, on account of the higher maximum fuel delivery characteristic of the WD9 pump. But that's just my guess...
