Could anyone tell me if the starting cranks were the same for the F-series tractors and the farmall H and M? I know that some were longer for the wide front axle. Mostly wondering if the slot in the end for the starting pin coming out of the bolster was in line with the bend in the handle or was 90 degrees off? Have some that are both ways but not sure if they have been modified or not. Thanks, Mike |

| I can give an answer that works!! When put on the crank drive, and pushed in to engage the crank, the handle of the crank should be at the bottom, or 15 to 20 degrees clockwise from bottom. (assuming the engine was shutoff and allowed to stop naturally) inline 4 cylinder engines stop with the pistons about 1/2 way in the bores. Pulling up is the only safe (ish) way of cranking, and if the pin placement was incorrect, the handle would be in an unsafe position. Jim |

| The coupling on an H and M crank is smaller than an F series, the F will work on an H or M but not vice versa. |
