The tractor looks really good, all metal is straight and tires are about 85%. Everything works as it should. This would be the first tractor of this size that I would own. I have a cub and an 8n, but I'm really liking this one. I'd like to have a tractor that I could take to shows, pulls or parades. My question is, he wants $2000. Is that too much for the kind of tractor I want? [Reply]   [No Email]

The thicker the better I say with the old tractors, within reason. I ran 75w90 in my A tranny and it was loud. Went up to 85w140 and that made it quiet. [Reply]  [No Email]

I didn't expect to have so many replies. Im sad to say that I'll have to wait another day on this one. I can't convince my wife that I need this tractor. That having been said a good Super C is worth every cent you do spend on it! It"ll do anything an H will do from a power standpoint (yes I realize that there are certain applications where the greater size and weight of an H come in to play,) it"ll turn on a dime if ya don"t have a useless wide front end on it, it is easy to work on, easy to trailer around, very very handy esp. if ya have the Fast Hitch! If ya wanna take one tractor to a pull and be competitive in a lot of weight classes then get some weights and go pullin" in the Truly stock or Div. 1 you"ll be able to get into the #3500 class but ya prolly will be a lil light to win, things"ll get a lil better in #4000 but #4500 is where they really start to hook up, I continue on in the #5000 where you will be real competitive, and then #5500 where the JD As and Super Hs will get ya. Rule of thumb: if ya lose to a straight H that doesn"t have the low/low/low 1st gear, then it"s time to do some work on it! LOL Out of about 13-14 tractors, the Super C would be the last one we"d part with! [Reply]  [No Email]

All the tires were like new, but one of the front tires was flat. Before I drove it home I pulled the flat and it was full of chewed up gravel. It ruined the tube. I washed the tire out with a hose and installed a new tube. I also replace the u-joints on the steering. They didn't have zerk fittings, but the new joints did. You should check those. I sold it for $1895.00 and I had a lot of calls on it. When I finished plowing the garden it blew a hydraulic line when I went to lift the plow on the last pass across the garden. I made two new hydraulic hoses using reusable fittings & swivel nuts. Hal [Reply]  [No Email]

It may be a little on the high side but if its what you want I would go for it. Four hundred miles is not bad as long as you got the trailer and the time. It may be a different story if you have to pay somebody to haul it. I have a C that I got about 3500 into thats probably not in much better shape except I have added a three point on mine. I'm pretty cheap, so at that price level, anything I find that needs attention calls for a little haggling. Since you want a turn key parade tractor, at the 2K price, I would insist on loosening the oil drain plug just enough to leak, to look for antifreeze or milky oil after sitting overnight. I just pd $1400 for this one with cultivators. Everything works but had multiple leaks. Bull pinion seals, axle seals etc. PO did no prep work before paint. He painted over old paint,dirt, and grease. Rear tires are good front tires pretty dry rotted but work. When I went to look at this one it had signs of the motor being apart and the way it runs I believed that motor had been rebuilt. When I got it home I did a compression check and it shows exactly 140psi on all 4. I've never had a SC test that high or that consistent. [Reply]  [No Email]
ericlb 11-16-2012 04:41:34 12.189.32.37 Report to Moderator	Re: Farmall Super C in reply to cubluvn8n, 11-16-2012 04:23:26   id give that for it in that condition, with tractors the deal breaker is always where it is, and what its going to cost to get it to where you are, if its 20 miles away, its a non issue, if you dont have a truck and tandem trailer, you can fire that up and drive it home, if its 1,000 miles away say, its going to cost another 2 grand to get it to you, half that if you go get it yourself, if you do, get a bill of sale for the tractor, so you can prove ownership, tractors dont have titles, and these days a lot of cops, and port of entries are interested in old tractors being hauled, people swipe them, scrap them and finance their drug habit that way [Reply]  [No Email]
