This CANNOT be right.

Decided to see about o rings in the Char-Lynn steering motor on the new M. Previous owner had taken it off. He said there was something wrong with it but never eluded to the symptoms. I pulled off the "nose" end of the thing and there are no gaskets between the different "collars"? That can't be right. Has someone taken this apart before and taken the gaskets out? All I found were two O rings on one end and one o ring on the other end. There has got to be more sealing this thing up!

If someone else has been in it I may just buy a salvage one. I've heard about having them out of phase and I have no idea what someone else did. All of the insides looked just fine to me - no obvious signs of wear.

Nothing missing there. Metal to metal seal, buy a seal kit from Hydsalvager on ebay and he will send you a link to the repair info as well. Takes all of 15 minutes to repair them when leaking.

Can I remove the output cover without the whole thing going "SPROING?"

The o-ring on the output shaft of mine is leaking once the oil gets hot...

Then again, would some Lucas transmission honey seal it up without ruining things?
