Hey are the bearings the same size om M and super M also where is the best place and part number to get them dealer wants 135 dollars apiece for them thanks

ckeck with motion ind. motionmro.com good luck stumper (ps you will need the size or number of old bearing)

Same size. Not sure about the part numbers. The bearing size litterly stayed the same from beginning to end of 'M' series production run. IH changed part numbers on them several times through the years. Why, I don't know. Kinda confusing. I suspect it had something to do with the tractor being tricycle or wide front. You can get those right here. Look over to the left and click on 'tractor parts'. I also see them on ebay all the time too. You'll notice all those prices a lot more down to earth. HTH.

Reason for different part numbers is capacity of the bearings were changed several times. Then they dropped the shield on outer axle bearings in 560 and lubed from final drive. Every time you see loading grooves in a bearing it means they added more balls and had to provide clearance to assemble them.

Ah ha!! Thanks for clearing that up Pete. I have both early and late outer front wheel bearings and noticed that the early bearings had less rollers than the late ones, and I was blaming that on the fact that one bearing is OEM, the other timkin. Maybe 1 or 2 more or less rollers. Can't remember exactly.

Patrick, not sure but think maybe you are thinking front bearings and Pete the rear axle bearings. I would guess the poster means rear axle bearings.

CaseIH parts book says outer axle bearings are the same on M and Super M.

ST210, replaced by ST210A.

I haven't been able to find a cross-reference for either of those bearings. The Timken book just skips right over ST210.

I am confused here??

Like Mr Slater has pointed out,are we talking FRONT axle,or REAR axle bearings????

DC3 puller,which ones????

I replaced mine and Bearing Service in Livonia, MI was able to cross reference them. Still was around $85 each if memory serves me right.

They also had the dust shields on both sides but they pop off real easy without damaging anything.

In less than 10 minutes search time, I found 3 places locally that are able to cross the "IH" number to their numbers within 15 miles of me, who either have at least 1 in stock, or can have it for me the next day,(guess what, Napa an have them for me tomorrow) so to say the only place to get it is the dealer is ludicrousness. The cheaper of the 3 was 70.00, most expensive was $101. And dont try and say theirs is better, because Id be willing to bet that theirs comes from at least of the same sources the ones I found come from!

Opps! My bad. I guess that explains the high price he quoted. Never thought of rear bearings. I very recently changed over to early style front hubs, and had to check weather the front bearings would interchange, and it was still fresh in my mind.

Front wheel bearings are in CNH part 361295R91 set per wheel, has seal, wear sleeve, felt washer, 1 each inner & outer cup + cone for tricycle front or WFA (IH wide front axle). The rear axle bearings ST223A inner, ST675 outer, these are ball bearings, max load which means more balls put in, has a loading notch in races, dont buy them by price alone, make sure they are high grade & max load.

Outter axle bearing ST 675 has 15 balls and is not shielded if you want the shielded type the following are some.
Don't know if anyone still makes them but a BCA-1214 was shielded with the same # of balls. PL-270-WP, ST-253 also 15 balls. There was some new departure heavy duty ones also.
Inner axle ball bearings, none shielded. ST-223 and ST 223-A. Some 15 and some 16 balls. L-270 15. ST-265 15 balls. L-265 16 balls. Other numbers were used also.
Also if I remember correct the ST 310 outer axle bearing was 11 balls and the ST-310-A was 10 balls.

I provided incorrect information earlier. The correct number for the outer axle bearings is ST-310, replaced by ST-310A.

ST310 and ST310A can't be cross-referenced to any other bearings.

Don't really know the best answer to that. When IH went to the unshielded bearings and no grease fittings hydraulic transmission oil was used with oil return to the transmission a little different than early models. Don't know if heavy gear oil tractors would make a difference or not.
Then you find some with the shield unattached to the bearing at removal. Due to overgreasing or other. You can find unshielded bearings installed later along with axle caps with no grease fittings on M tractors on up.
Shielded with the right amount of grease at the correct intervales may be extra insurance if the tractor is operated with one side high for long periods. For incorrect greasing the open is probably better. When the open bearing is installed with grease fitting axle caps, plug the fitting holes.
