Im building farmall m tractor to do a little pulling and ive got a new reproduction farmall 450 lp head and manifold, farmall 400 motor, 400 crankshaft , stock 400 cam, 450 carb, 400 govenor, electronic ignition, and i plan on putting the 4 1/8 inch overbore that has the stepped head high compression piston from A&I Products in this block, and using stock stroke! does anyone have any idea on what kind of power im looking at here??and will i have to cut a little off of the top of the piston due to clearence issues ?

my M now has flat top pistons in it now with the 4 inch over bore and the 8060 head with the (lp manifold) and it made a solid 50 horse after new plugs a good carb cleaning and adjusting the timing .
any help with be helpful!
thanks for looking!

If I were you I would find a 450 cam. All I've read about that setup, you could get close to 70 hp. I have the same but with a 450 gas head and I got 63hp.

ive heard of this 450 cam and searched for one for sometime and couldnt find anything anywhere, is there any one that is reproducing them and what kinda money are they getting for them ?

About any standard replacement cams for a M to a 450 made in the last 50 some years are supposed to be the same as what some call a 450 cam. If the 400 cam is in the same condition as whats called a 450 one there's no need to change.
About 1/3 of the 450 engines used the same cam as a 400. Then IH decided to put left hand threads on them for the cam nut.
Special cam grind could make more power if matched to your needs.

Are you sure you aren't mixing him up with Denny's Carb Shop?
