300 SPARK PLUG GAP

putting autolite 3116 plugs in my 300, book says .23 gap,was wondering if anyone have any thoughts on this, and would a bigger gap help with fouling problems?

That gap determines the voltage needed to jump. If fouling is an issue with that engine, I would leave it at that gap, or no more than .025. A resistor style plug can help some, but the heat range is more important. Hotter plug less deposits. Fuel related deposits are rare, oil related problems are common. I would also try syntheticengine oil as a possible improver. Jim
