Fuel proof paint in a rattle can for carb.

Is such a thing available? Any color but green or pink please. I know that epoxy paint would probably work, but I'm trying to avoid breaking out the spray gun, and putting up with the mixing mess for just a carburetor. I'm a lazy old cuss, I am I am.

TIA

Just about any good brand of epoxy enamel will stand
up to gasoline after it's cured, it comes in all
colors & is available in "rattle cans". IMPORTANT:
do NOT get carb cleaner or any other "strong"
solvent such as Acetone, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, or
Motor Ether anywhere near it or it will wash off.

I agree, why paint it? It looks fine with all the old paint, grease disolved off it, and left in it's natural color.

After several baths in carb cleaner, the original black-oxide finish is gone, which leaves you with bare, unprotected cast iron. Bare cast iron gets rusty real quick, and a rusty carburetor is not very pretty to look at.

I use model airplane clearcoat. I would imagine they might have colors. The brand I use is Top Flite Crystal Clear, Fuel Proof Model Paint.

I use Seymour cast blast original and on the manifold I use
cast blast original 1200 degree. It gives the appearance of old
cast. I have had good luck with it

hat Rustyfarmall said. I'm going to goggle seymour to see what pops up.

I remember the top flight clear from my u-control days many many years ago. I think it was some kind of clear laquer, also called dope. Imagine that. We'd brush it on right out of the small bottle in came in. Sure did smell good.
Thanks guys

Dont' bother painting it... Use Zinc Phosphate instead. You can bead blast the carb, coat it w/ Zinc Phosphate (available from most auto paint suppliers) and it'll be very rust resistant for many yrs. Its still going to get the nasty brown fuel stains from the ethanol junk gas, but that will clean off w/ carb cleaner without harming the carb finish. Paint just comes off w/ the carb cleaner otherwise. It'll be a natural gray color. I've got carbs that were treated as long as 5 yrs ago and they have zero rust on them. I do, however, keep my tractors inside when not in use.
