Just wondering what the 2+2 stood for on the 3588 tractors.
Not sure if they were a true 4 wheel drive tractor or like the
FWA. Always thought they were a bit strange looking and for
that reason alone kinda them. Just don't know a single thing
about them. Thanks for your help.

They are a "true"articulated (rowcrop) tractor.2+2 maen 'two wheel drive plus two'

I don't know but, I know it means 2 seats plus to seats on my 1966 fastback Mustang.

The cab was on the back half that articulated instead of on the front nt like most articulated tractors. They are really quite maneuverable.

Means it is a row crop tractor plus full 4 wheel drive. Designed for maximum flotation to spread the compaction out and max traction on loose soils while pulling similar implement to a comparable horse power two wheel drive tractor that is weighted down.
