If the tires are burned off the tractor in these pictures (I haven't seen them yet), then it's scrap metal.
 
As for them being "prone" to fires? I'm not aware of it.

There are always freak accidents, unexpected failures, first times for everything. Also lack of maintenance can contribute, letting grease-soaked dust and chaff accumulate where it gets very hot, for example.

Thanks for fixing the pics.
There was a build up of rag weed seeds everywhere. I don't know how you could stop that.

In the fire pic you can see them build up on the step.
 

It is pictures like these that make me wonder why I don't fit a suitable fire extinguisher on each of my tractors. If it is repairable, I can certainly recommend a 454 with the d179 diesel. Not sure what would be required for the change over my my old 454d is a snotty little tractor.
