H Trans Fluid Drain/Clean

I finally got around to changing the trans fluid in my H. It took 4 hours to fill the 5 gal. bucket fron the rear drain, and I got about 1 gal. from the front drain plug, but had to scrape/pull the sludge out the whole time. The belt pulley drive is still off, and I can see there's still about an inch of sludge still in there. Should I put the plugs back in and dump a few gallons of diesel in it, let it sit a few days, then drain and flush with more diesel?

if it were mine i would dump in a 50/50 mix of hyd. oil and diesel and drive it around for awhile.diesel alone is not the best lubrication for differential or trans.

instead of reinstalling belt pulley off and on. just get a piece of 1/8 flat metal and fab. a cover for it with a couple bolts, even a 1/4 " plywood is good enough.just to keep the oil from splashing all over.

Diesel or kerosense and driving around slowly for a little while with no load is the remedy I have seen recommended to clean out sludge.
