I am considering rebuilding a Cub c60 engine. Anyone know approximately the cost of a complete rebuild? Boring? Valve job? Anyone have a rebuilt engine for sale? Thanks, Joe

Call your local auto machine shop in your area they can give you ball park figure. For them to give an accurate figure you would need to tear the engine down completely. They can determine if your block needs to bored oversize
and if the crankshaft needs to be ground undersize. They won't grind it unless it needs it. I would use the old block if there's never been any water in the oil pan. They may magna-flux the block to make sure there's no cracks. Hal

I am working on one now. Parts: $400 (rings, bearings gaskets, clutch disk, etc). Had the block cleaned and honed, crank turned $350.

Misc. supplies: $75

I am doing the valves and all the assembly work.

Neglecting the shop work I did all the work myself. I honed the cylinders as well. Being that it was my first rebuild I'm guessing I spent about 18 hours rebiulding. I think I spent two days from about 3 to midnight.

I rebuilt mine this summer. I think it was about $400 at the shop. Valve and crank grinding and boiling out the block. New bearings, valve springs, rings, and gaskets and seals. I think about $600 total.

About 1200 would do it if you do most of the work. Exceptions being boring and crank work, which are done at the machine shop. If you have someone do it it would be 2500 or a bit more, add 200 for valve grinding. You will need to put a clutch in it while it is apart, add 300.
If all you do is have the cylinders bored with a Sunnen style portable boring bar, hone and install rings/pistons and new rod inserts, maybe 600. Jim

Oh and about how many hours should it take to rebuild?
