I had my generator re-wrapped to make it 12volt.I have a distributor,do i need to change my 6 volt coil to a 12 volt,also do i need to run a regulator or a cutout?Thank"s

As Cowman says, you will need to add a resistor. If you don't do this, you will need to buy a new coil in about 3 hrs.Don't ask how I know this......"smokin"!

You need to add an external resistor (cheapest way) or buy an internally resisted universal coil.

A coil that is labled for use on a 12 volt system STILL requires an external resistor.

You can replace your coil and get one that say no external resister needed or keep the coil you have an add a ballast resister like the O'Reilly's part # VR-1 which is small and easy to hide and the way it mounts you have a good heat sink so it lasts longer then most
