My alternator stoped working on my 766. I need to charge the two 6 volt batteries. Where do i hook my charger? Thanks Kent

Set the charger on 6V, and hook across each battery one at a time. Make sure + to + and - to - on the battery and charger.

Positive clamp to the positive post on the left battery, negative clamp to the frame.

Jim, Glad to see that there are a few of us that know the correct way of hooking up the charger to two 6 volt batteries, I see you also said that the neg goes to the frame which is very good, many people do not do that. It's just a safety item that prevents blowing a battery if there is a spark. Well done

you can hook it on the pos. cable right at starter and neg on the frame, or any good ground there.

Before you ASSUME the left battery has the main positive terminal, take a look.

After 40 years it is possible that someone rewired the tractor and changed it.

If the cable goes from the + post directly to the starter solenoid, then you have the main positive terminal on the left battery.

The cable MUST go from the + terminal directly to the starter solenoid.

A second check, the other cable should go from the - terminal across to the + terminal on the other battery.
