i bought a 300 a couple of weeks ago and it was missing the ta lever. does anybody have one just laying around for sale.its kind of hard to try the ta and see if it works with out the lever.thanks

If the lever is gone and the tractor still moves you can pretty much assume the TA is out on the low side.

Crack open your yellow pages and find your local tractor salvage yard. You could also try Steel Wheel Ranch, or JP Tractor Salvage, or any number of other large salvage yards that are frequently recommended on this forum.

I know my dad removed the TA levers on our older tractors to keep the "kids" from using/misusing them.

Get the ruler out, then hook up a ratchet strap to the bottom hole on the T/A clutch operating shaft. Unhook the short rod from the T/A clutch operating shaft to the main clutch shaft. Rotate T/A shaft counterclockwise until you feel the release bearing contact the clutch fingers. Tighten the strap until the bottom hole of the lever moves around 1/2 inch.Don't go over 3/4 inch. Then try the tractor on a hard pull. Don't turn down hill or park tractor with the shaft held back.
Warning this may not work if the T/A release bearing went bad or fingers on the pressure plate. Maybe the reason for lever removal. Also if the T/A clutch is good and not used it may be stuck. If the short rod between clutch shafts is still on the tractor the release bearing and T/A clutch may still be in operating condition. If the tractor shifts without binding all the time, the t/a clutch still works or the t/a rollers are shot or removed.
I have some levers but would need to check condition. Lots have the spring broke or the lever and linkage pins needing attention.

thanks for all the info. guys. Todd you may be getting a call from a 218 area code. all i need is the lever. maybe this was how some brain made a t/a delete 300.lol thanks again

I would sure do what Slater has suggested as the TA may very well be shot or rollers removed so lever won't do you any good. Easy to take little cover off top and get an idea what is going on inside.
