After 40 years it is possible that someone rewired the tractor and changed it. If the cable goes from the + post directly to the starter solenoid, then you have the main positive terminal on the left battery. The cable MUST go from the + terminal directly to the starter solenoid. A second check, the other cable should go from the - terminal across to the + terminal on the other battery. It's just a safety item that prevents blowing a battery if there is a spark. Well done [Reply]  [No Email]
