Topic: How do i charge my batteries?

My alternator stoped working on my 766. I need to charge the two 6 volt batteries. Where do i hook my charger? Thanks Kent |

| Before you ASSUME the left battery has the main positive terminal, take a look.
After 40 years it is possible that someone rewired the tractor and changed it.
If the cable goes from the + post directly to the starter solenoid, then you have the main positive terminal on the left battery.
The cable MUST go from the + terminal directly to the starter solenoid.
A second check, the other cable should go from the - terminal across to the + terminal on the other battery. |

| you can hook it on the pos. cable right at starter and neg on the frame, or any good ground there. |

| Jim, Glad to see that there are a few of us that know the correct way of hooking up the charger to two 6 volt batteries, I see you also said that the neg goes to the frame which is very good, many people do not do that. It's just a safety item that prevents blowing a battery if there is a spark. Well done |

| Set the charger on 6V, and hook across each battery one at a time. Make sure + to + and - to - on the battery and charger. |

| Charge the batteries in series at twelve volts, just as the alternator did when it was working. |
