400 and m aircleaner pipe interchange

Hello, I have a farmall 400 I just put together. I am missing a few parts including the air cleaner pipe from the carb to the air cleaner and the TA lever. Will a air cleaner pipe from a m fit, and what other tractor models are the same. I found a TA lever from a 350 but was wondering if it was to short to fully enguage it. What model tractors used the same TA lever? Finally, the narrow front end shakes like crazy when you get up to speed, is that something adjustable or once its worn there is no fix? Any info is appreciated, the little I have run it I really like the tractor!

Levers interchange as long as the bracket they bolt to is still on the tractors. Piviot brackets don't interchange. Unless its a real real late M the air intake pipes are different.
Most M pipes are a smaller diameter on the air cleaner end. SM through 450 works.
No adjustments on the steering, unless the retaining nuts, keyed shaft joint or the steering shaft universal are loose a check for worn parts is needed.

I think the air cleaner pipe from an M will be a smaller diameter on the top end than the original from a 400, and it will not match up to the port on the air cleaner itself. Just guessing, but I think a pipe from maybe a Super M or a 450 should fit your 400. OR, if you have that pipe from an M, take it to a muffler shop and they can use it as a pattern to make you a brand new pipe that WILL fit.

That front end shaking is because it is worn out. It can be rebuilt with new bushings and etc., but there is NOTHING to adjust.

Most likely your front end needs rebuilt. But had trouble like that with my H till I realized they had it turned 180 degrees out. The wobble went away after I turned it around.
