Just Got 46 B running after being in shed for 10 yrs. runs great no smoke but front seal leaking bad. do I need to drop bolster to install seal?

Yes. It is more complex, as the front cover is also removed to access the seal. A hydraulic puller,(or very stout screw puller and bearing splitter is needed to pull the front pulley (could have a setscrew, but is pressed on) See the archives for puller designs that work. Those that don't break the pulley! Speedy sleeve, or setting the new seal to run on unworn shaft is a necessary ingredient. a cover gasket is also needed. Jim

Be sure to support that tractor well before you pull the bolster. I restored a Farmall A in 1975-76 and I didn't have any problem pulling the damper pulley. When I did it I unbolted the steering and rolled it out from under the tractor along with the steering wheel. I also pulled the engine. Hal

When you buy a new seal, make sure you know what you are getting. Many sellers will use the Speedy Sleeve Kit number for just the seal without the sleeve.
