Can't make up my mind and thought I'd ask opinions.
The 460 I just bought has a nice 3pt on it. I have a fast hitch and PTO on a donor tractor that I can swap over. I have 2 plows one is a 210 two way roll over the other is a 314 2 way roll over both are fast hich, however the 314 has the IH bolt on adapter from fast hitch to 3 pt on it, I also have the correct tongs to take it back to factory fast hitch. I also have fast hitch to 3pt tongs for the fast hitch. Lets here some pos and cons on leaving it as is or switching it back to f/h. I'm also looking for a fast hitch blade
Ps, I got that ugly truck seat off her last night and put a pan seat on her, looks much better

By the looks of it, the attachment points (to the tractor, near the rear axle) of the lower arms of the three point hitch are WIDER apart than the attachment points (of the lower arms) to the plow. Hence the mounted plow will never track straight but will always be wanting to go either left or right, depending on the line of draft on the plow, relative to the tractor center line. It will not plow worth a hoot.

You may look up Hugh McKay's posts (in the archives) on the proper (read: stable) geometry of three point hitches.

Or, see link.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

I thought it helped maintain depth over uneven ground, but it is not "load" sensing like draft control. My 240U has it, but I don't have any implements to see how it works. I did use the draft control on my S-55 Oliver when I had a field cultivator. It was load sensing and maintained the same load, but not nessesarily the same depth... it would work up and down to maintain appoximately the same load on the tractor. I no longer have a big garden or the field cultivator... deer kept eating the garden, so I gave up.

For what it"s worth, I replaced the Tele-a-Depth valve on my 340 with a regular single/double valve. Much better! No unpredictable jumping.

Tel-a-depth has nothing to do with draft control AFAIK.

I think I would want the Tele-Depth in play. Unless you have level even ground, the 3 point without draft control would not be as good as the Fast Hitch with the T-D. 3 point might be okay with a blade or mower, but not plowing.

Personaly I like the fast hitch.I have 2 560's and a 460 with them.Easy to hook up to my fast equipment 3 bottom plow,IH blade, tool carrier, sickle mower, middle buster and post hole digger. Also when you hook up to other equipment when you back raise or lower to match tounge height.

I've read posts from a couple of people who have had success plowing using one of those aftermarket 3pt hitches. They had some pretty nice, consistent ground too from the looks of the picture.

I think if it were me, I'd transfer the Fast Hitch, skip the tel-a-depth and go with a straight valve for simplicity.

3pt stuff at plow days is rarer than trailer plows, but you don't see a lot of fast hitch.

What is the matter with the donar tractor? Fix it and end up with 2 running 460's each with a different hitch. I am thinking it is going to be a challange to get the Tel-a- depth linkage and valve transfered to the other tractor and have it work but it can be done. By the way does the "new" 460 have the Tel-a-depth valve installed? Armand

Also the donor tractor has nothing from the grill to the clutch housing, it was a factroy LP tractor, letter codes CSY, and the engine, propane tank was removed. I saved it from the scrap man for 375.00 and it had 4 IH suitcase weights hanging on the front, which I traded to someone and some cash for the 314 rollover plow

MY wife calls my tractors "matchbox for men" even though I know alot of these tractors still earn their keep to some owners.

Yes, it does, it is a 61, the donor is a 58 and does not have the teleadepth. I also have a 59 diesel that is in the engine rebuild process. It has all the balls and whistles available in 59. When I bought the last 460, I also got an engine, I think it is a conbine or maybe a truck engine. I have enough sheetmetal to complete 2 tractors. I have a spare engine that I can rbuid at some point to maybe a puller. the 58 (donor tracto does not show the triangle symbol for the upgraded rear end compnents, the 59 (diesel) shows the upgraded markings and the latest purchase being a 61 wold have had the heavier components from the factory,
I have a gas 400, 350lp both with f/h and PTO as well as a 53 Super C with a fast hitch so I'm not to worried abouty the PTO, just can't decide about the fh on this 460

If it came from the factory with a cover plate on the PTO, will it have the shafting to drive the PTO?

I don't know, it has a t/a and states in the manual for that letter code. T/A with provisions for a PTO. I have plenty of tractors with PTO's so I'm leaving it out for now. If I have to go into the rear end for anything I might install it then
